Using digital storytelling to share the hidden beauty following the Black Forest Fire in 2013. |
My personal mission in life
is to prepare the young people to make a difference as they build a better
community/world. I believe if we honestly work together, our
students will grow into global citizens who are lifelong learners. They will be
able to think critically and creatively approach problem solving. To do this, I
believe we must continue to grow ourselves, persevere through the challenges, and
understand each other’s views and experiences. Then we can provide students with learning opportunities which grows
the whole person – academic, social, emotional, etc.
Structured collaboration gives everyone a voice. |
My passion in education is helping those who help our children. Teaching is a demanding job which easily becomes isolating. There is a thrill that comes from collaborating with colleagues, finding new strategies, and experimenting with new technologies. When a teacher tells a student's success story, the excitement within me grows.
Presently, I serve as an Assistant Principal at Laredo Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado. I have previously been an elementary instructional math coach, math interventionist, literacy interventionist in middle school, and an elemetary classroom teacher. Through these experiences, I have developed an understanding of the growth children make in learning. In the spring of 2015, I completed my Education Specialist Degree focusing on Professional Learning and Technology.
As a second-career teacher, I enjoy combining my professional backgrounds of education and business.
